Pittsfield Students Killed in Vehicle Crash in Morgan County, Pikeland Community Mourns
Two high school students from Pikeland Community Unit School District #10 were killed in a vehicle collision Saturday afternoon in rural Morgan County, officials confirmed.
The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Woodson Winchester Road, just west of the village of Woodson.
In a statement shared late Saturday night on the district’s Facebook page, Pikeland Superintendent Todd Fox identified the victims as senior Jesse Davidsmeyer and junior Joel Noble. “As a school and community, we are in absolute shock and overwhelmed with grief,” Fox wrote. “It is with incredible sadness and disbelief that I share the heartbreaking news of the sudden loss.”
The crash remains under investigation by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
Fox said counseling services and other support resources will be made available to students, staff, and community members in the coming days. He urged families to check in with their children and to reach out for additional help if needed.
“Please keep the families of Jesse Davidsmeyer and Joel Noble, those who were injured, and all who are affected in your thoughts and prayers,” he added.
Additional details about the crash and the condition of others involved have not yet been released. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
